Dolmen du Parc

TRÉDION

    Mégalithe

This is an example of a “gallery grave” dolmen, measuring 6 m long. It was built by our sapiens ancestors at the end of the Neolithic Period about 5000 years ago, who buried their dead here over several generations.

Although at the time of its use as a communal sepulture, it looked very different! It was covered by an elongated tumulus, which has not survived to the present day. The orthostats are still here, but have collapsed to the east under the weight of the enormous stone slab which covered the entire burial chamber.
