CARNAC

    Musée

We are at the beginning of the 5th millennium BCE. Carnac was then a great center of power and wealth. Large Alpine jade axes, polished ornaments imported from Spain discovered in the Saint-Michel tumulus... These prestige pieces ensure fascination, alongside objects from the daily life of this Neolithic period which saw the erection of the dolmens and the famous alignments of menhirs. Visiting the Carnac Museum of Prehistory is obtaining the keys to understanding the numerous archaeological sites in Brittany and their history. The museum houses one of Europe's richest prehistoric collections. It is also the conservancy for objects discovered at the sites that have made our region famous. Visitors of all ages can participate in demonstrations of prehistoric know-how and family craft workshops, for a lively perspective on these periods so distant and yet so close to our human history. Also to discover starting in 2026: a behind-the-scenes look at the museum!
