The mill has had several lives With its exceptional history and architecture, the Pen Castel Mill was created in the 12th century. Equipped at the time with a double mechanism—two wheels, two spinning wheels, and two millstones—it transformed wheat and oats into flour at low tide. Out of operation for over a century (1919), the mill has had other lives and is now a listed site. Since then, it has been a gourmet restaurant, a crêperie, and even a nightclub. Since 2009, the town of Arzon has chosen to make it a cultural venue showcasing contemporary art. Today, this wonder of the Gulf of Morbihan is a protected building. A charming setting that has become a year-round contemporary art exhibition space.
